Getting started in IDPA

Getting started in IDPA is easy, you may already have most of the equipment you need! To shoot at an IDPA match you will need:

  • Eye and ear protection
  • A pistol or revolver
    • Most factory pistols or revolvers will work, Glock, Springfield, SIG, S&W, 1911's, etc.
    • Pistols designed specifically for competition are not approved for IDPA
  • A holster
    • Strong-side holsters worn on the hip only
    • Holster must cover the trigger guard of the firearm
  • Three magazines or speedloaders
  • A magazine pouch or speed loader pouch
  • A concealment garment
    • Must cover the firearm when holstered and any magazine or speedloader pouches
    • A shooter's vest, or an unbuttoned shirt will usually do.
  • Ammunition
    • For 6-8 stages you will typically need 150-200 rounds
  • $15 Match fee - exact change is preferred but not required
  • If you are shooting for the first time please remeber to arrive in time to attend the required safety meeting at 7:30
